OPERATIONS MANAGER

Behind every unforgettable day in the backcountry is a lot of thoughtful planning, communication, and problem-solving.

Tyax Adventures is looking for an organized, adaptable and solutions-focused Operations Manager to join our team for a maternity leave contract. You’ll be at the centre of the operation; connecting our people, backcountry camps, transportation, aircraft, equipment, partners and the logistics/administration behind our mountain biking, hiking and backcountry experiences.

This is a role for someone who takes ownership. You’ll have experienced people, consultants and specialised resources to draw on, but you’ll be expected to identify what needs to happen, build the plan, make practical day-to-day decisions and drive the work through to completion.

Some days are about planning months ahead. Others mean adjusting a staff schedule, coordinating a floatplane, reviewing a budget, following up with a supplier and responding to changing field conditions. Sometimes all before lunch! WHAT YOU’LL OWN

• Operations & logistics: Daily and forward-looking planning for trips, camps, staff, vehicles, aircraft, equipment and supplies.

• Backcountry operations: Seasonal camp opening, operational readiness, resupply, maintenance coordination and closing.

• People & teams: Recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, accommodation and leadership of supervisors and seasonal teams.

• Operational response: Practical decision-making and coordinated response when weather, wildfire, access, staffing, aircraft availability or other conditions change.

• Business administration: Planning, budgets, purchasing, reporting, suppliers, documentation, agreements and operational systems.

• Guest & trip support: Working with Reservations & Sales to ensure trips are operationally ready and helping resolve issues when plans change.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Strong operations, logistics, business administration, project coordination or management experience.

• Excellent organization, communication and follow-through.

• Comfort working with budgets, spreadsheets, documentation, scheduling and digital systems.

• Valid Class 4 driver’s licence required. Trailer-towing experience preferred.

• Comfort driving remote roads, travelling into the backcountry and assisting with the physical movement of equipment and supplies when required.

• Minimum of a Basic First Aid ticket that meets WorkSafeBC requirements.

POSITION
Year-round position with a seasonal rhythm

TERM
November 2026 - July 2028 (with the possibility to extend)

START
Ideal start November 21, 2026, to encompass a four week minimum training handover

SEASONAL RHYTHM
Summer is our peak operating season and requires a strong on-site presence and flexibility around operational needs. The quieter months shift toward planning, staffing, budgeting, systems and preparation for the season ahead.

COMPENSATION
$65,000+ annually, depending on experience

HOUSING
Optional summer staff housing
