Ryders Eyewear, Merrell Outdoor Footwear & Clothing & Tyax Adventures present the first ‘Chilcotin Ultra Running Camp’.  Spend 3 days running along the trails in the beautiful South Chilcotin Mountains Park in BC.  Each day you’ll run along a different piece of trail; through wildflower filled meadows, over alpine passes, alongside raging rivers and through peaceful pine forest, seeing the best of this remote wilderness. End your trip with a night at the luxurious Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa to top it all off, and leave with lots of SWAG from Ryders Eyewear & Merrell Outdoor Footwear & Clothing.

Additional Options:

  • Fly direct between Whistler and Tyax Wilderness Resort, 30 minute flights each way.
    Price:  $500/per person + tax, return. Based on a group of 4.
  • Arrive Thursday, August 14th to stay an extra night at Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa and have dinner in the gourmet lakeside restaurant.
    Price:  $172/per person + tax, based on double occupancy.  Includes: 1 night accommodation + dinner & breakfast.

Itinerary

Day 1 (~25 kms + Highest elevation 1600m) View GPS Route
Arrive at Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa by 10:00am. Here you’ll meet your guides, including Trail Runner, Kevin Titus. Today you’ll start with a short shuttle drive to one of our local trailheads, run over 25kms with a gradual elevation gain along the rolling Gun Creek trail into Spruce Lake. The trail covers a variety of terrain; some technical rocky sections alongside the Gun Creek, soft pine forest floor, and smooth singletrack through wildflower filled meadows. Once at the Spruce Lake camp stake your claim to one of our 5 cozy canvas wall tents, each with 2 single bunks and set up your backcountry home for the next 2 nights. Your camp host will be available to give you the tour of camp and will prepare a hearty healthy dinner as well as stoke a great campfire.

*Option to add an additional 6kms to the route on the way up to Spruce Lake.

Day 2 (~38km + Highest elevation 2300m)  View GPS Route

Fuel up for today because you’ll be running a stunning loop up and over Deer Pass.  From camp you’ll run out along the Gun Creek trail through the wide open Gun Meadows, following the trail West past Hummingbird and Trigger Lakes before turning up the Deer Pass trail.  From here you’ll climb up 650m to the top of Deer Pass,  this route offers some serious elevation gain with rewards of spectacular scenery from the top of the pass.  Pick your way down the other side of the pass before turning onto the Tyaughton Creek trail.  There will be a few creek crossings from here until the turn off to the final stretch up to Spruce Lake along the WD trail, so prepare to get your feet wet.  Once at Spruce Lake camp cool down with a jump in the lake or relax on the dock before dinner.

*Option to run a shorter route, out and back from Spruce camp.

Day 3 (~30km + Highest elevation 2200m)  View GPS Route

Soak up the tranquility on your last morning in camp.  Today’s route will take you up an over Windy Pass with an elevation gain of about 600m.  Watch for mountain goats from the top of the pass as they love to roam these hillsides.  Run down into the Eldorado Basin and climb up the second and final pass of the trip before the mostly downhill run back to our shuttle van.  The van will shuttle you a short 20 minute drive back to Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa where you’ll get to enjoy the amenities of this luxury Resort including a massage in the state of the art Spa.  Finish the day off with a well deserved celebration dinner in the dining room with Adam and your group to recap all your alpine adventures.

*Option to forego the shuttle van and run the final 6kms back to Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa.

Day 4

Say your goodbyes before checking out at 11:00am and hitting the road.
